The season drew to a close on the 29th April after several midweek games and a frantic run in for the final placing in the League. This was an extremely busy day for both players and committee alike. The players focused on the final match, all concerned about the final placings and whether we were going to be promoted up to Division 3. The committee members had other things to worry about, like the Secretary arriving at the trophy shop to discover the medals hadn’t been engraved and having to rush them down to another shop to get them done in time for the presentations that evening. Not to mention the large number of sandwiches and other food that needed to be prepared for the evening. It was a close one, but luckily all was ready on time and no one was any the wiser to the hiccups!

This was held at Perrywood Sports and Social Club that evening. It was a great success, attended by most of the players, friends, and family and associated others, totalling just over 100 people. The evening went with a bang no doubt down to the amount of cheap alcohol that was consumed! A number of people went away with raffle prizes including a free week’s membership to Dragons Healthclub, two free golf lessons and numerous bottles of booze, including a bottle of vintage sherry! Some individuals went away with was it one, two or three bottles, or was it four – Phillip Hester. On that note it was Phillips 30th Birthday and this was celebrated in true style with a rather out of tune rendition of “Happy Birthday” and a cake baked specially for the occasion.

Presentations were made during the evening to the following players

Most Improved Player of the Season : “Birthday Boy” Phillip Hester

Player’s Player of the Season and Manager’s Player of the Season both went to Ben Friar, Ben was also top goal scorer with over 30 goals.

WELL DONE to all the team : a good start for the Club and here’s to a great performance again this season.

You will find attached to this newsletter a copy of the final placings and the format for the Division for this season. For those who don’t already know, we have been adjusted up into the 3rd Division. Unfortunately for us that also includes four other teams from the 4th Division of last season. Ho! Hum! That’s life!

This will be held at Bewbush Leisure Centre on Wednesday evenings at 6.30pm : all welcome to attend and please bring along anyone else who is interested. Please make sure you bring your cheque books next week, in order to register you as a Trident FC player we need your signing on fee of £15.00. Details of match fees will be confirmed at the AGM (details below).

We would be grateful if you would complete the players detail sheet at training this week, particularly contact telephone numbers, please include mobiles if you have them and dates of birth. This just helps us make your lives and ours easier. Let’s face it do you really want to turn out on a wet wintry November evening if you get there to find training has been cancelled : I think not!

We need money! Who doesn’t : so ask your boss or any rich family members! Every little helps! Any committee member is available to speak to any contacts that may be interested in assisting us, please just ask us.
